Ensemble Concert

An acclaimed series co-organised by WestK Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, “Chinese Tea & Music” has won many hearts for its delightful dialogue between aromatic tea and charming music. This year’s programme transcends geographical boundaries and embraces the world.

Tea originated in China. Through trading routes on land and by sea, its delicate fragrance spread to every corner of the globe. Hong Kong serves as an iconic hub where one can experience the depth and purity of traditional Chinese tea yet appreciate the refined etiquette of European tea culture. Moreover, Hong Kong’s unique “yuen yeung”— a mix of coffee and milk tea—is the perfect fusion of East and West, an embodiment of the city’s spirit of inclusivity.

Both tea and music are artforms concerning time and disposition. Artistic Advisor Chew Hee Chait guides audiences through an immersive musical experience steeped in the fragrance of Chinese, European and local Hong Kong beverages in a veritable cross-cultural dialogue. Step into the flow of time through lovely aroma, experiencing the world through beautiful music.
